Classicly of Course

We all know Sunday was the Emmy's. Yes, that is not new news nor is the concept of doing a worst and best dressed list. I pondered this idea, but found it rather boring. Personally, I do not become inspired by what the stars wear on the red carpet because I simply do not walk on red carpet. But there are, of course, those infamous high school dances to attend. Which brings up a very important question; What on earth am I going to wear? You might be thinking I'm going to suggest to find a cheaper version of so-and-so's dress, this however I am not; I will get to my point in a minute [or however long it takes for you to read this]. I find the celebrity award shows to be just about as helpful as those lame PROM magazine issues when it comes to this subject. Because everything is either impractical or, to put it blunty, ugly! Some may see high school dances as a place to make a fashion statement. Yes, this is true if you wish to do so. But what type of statement do you wish to make? Remember, these are the pictures you will be showing your kids someday. Have you ever seen your mother's or worse her wedding pictures and then laughed? Do you really want that to happen to you? Going timeless is the best option for such special occasions. Of course, add your own personal touch or twist but do not do full out trends. This is the mistake I feel a few people made at the Emmy's on Sunday. They went with what is very "in" now, but later will look like the worst fashion faux paus! So while they are currently on the latest "Best Dressed" list, in 10-15 years they will be on the list of "Can You Believe What People Wore Back Then?!"
