Oranges & Tangerines

Yesterday, I walked around the Forum in search of a job, and found myself walking into Anthropologie. As soon as I walked in I immediately knew that today was not a good day to ask for an application. I had not put in any real thought into my outfit that day, which consisted of baggy sevens, red sandals from UO, a brown leather belt with subtly engraved flowers, a white wife beater, and a very bright multi color print head scarf, my non-emphasized accessories consisted of a silver ring and a tan leather slouchy tote and the clichéd over-sized sunglasses . I basically looked like I was going to have lunch down at the beach, meanwhile the sale associates were perfectly dressed and incredibly chic. But at this point, I had already walked in so I couldn't exactly just turn around an leave at risk of looking like like a complete idiot. So, I decided to browse, which I knew was dangerous because Anthropologie is one of my absolute favorite stores. As I was adding numerous items to my never ending wish list one of the associates complimented me on my headscarf and went on and on about how she loves head scarfs and that she can't wait to start wearing hers again this summer. She then went and got two other associates and I saw them staring at me talking about me and what I was wearing around me hair. I walked out without asking for an application but feeling slightly more confident about applying there. So...

1)What do I wear to ask for an application at one of the chicest stores around?!!

and 2) Do you think it's still okay to wear head scarfs or is it to Nicole Richie circa 2006?
