Runway/Haute Couture Part 2

Oh my, oh my, my weekend thus far has been very busy and today is no exception, so again I will have to make this short. I think I should continue with the discussion of runway shows/haute couture.

And there were two very good points and did not mention yesterday. The first being the fact that it's a show, its suppose to be entertaining. While walking down the runway in gorgeous cocktail dresses and perfectly put together 'wearable' outfits its nice, its boring and overdone. Elaborate looks are exciting, they grab your attention and make you think. They inspire.

The second reason, having much to do with the fact that fashion is a form of art. Have you ever been to an art museum and seen the absolutely weirdest 'sculpture' ever. Maybe it was 3 Pepsi cans stacked on top of each other and that was the artist's masterpiece. While you are sitting there thinking "What the hell?" another person comes up and thinks it is absolutely brilliant. I don't think either person is wrong, because we are all entitled to our own opinions. You simply did not understand the message the artists was trying to portray. This also can be applied to runway shows, sometimes the designers ideas are so out there that we don't get it, at least not until someone explains it to us. For the few, that do get the message right off the bat, then rock on! But for me (and others) it takes some thought pondering, a lot of staring and a little bit of time to see more then just the look, but the message behind the look. However, I find this process quite exciting. You?
